The Owera Experience
"Upon entering the production barn/tasting room, the rustic chic feel runs consistently throughout the building. The rich flavor is characterized by our feature piece, the 200 year old white oak custom bar with exposed natural edge. It’s rudimentary wrought iron strapping is complimented by the rustic beams and tile-embroidered brick oven. The warm ambience is enhanced by the eclectic chandeliers and stained concrete floors."

"I think Owera Vineyards is a breath-takingly beautiful vineyard and farm nestled in the Cazenovia countryside boasting an award-winning wine portfolio. Once you enter the long, winding road to the farm vineyard, you will feel all your stress disintegrate as you pass by ponds, apple trees, vines, and an organic garden. Once inside the Tasting Room, it's not all about the wine but about the entire experience for your visit."
- Nancy Muserlian
Our vineyard consists of 4 acres and is a combination of Minnesota cold hardy varietals, Frontenac Gris (think Riesling with pineapple overtones) and Marquette (a clone of Pinot Noir). We chose to plant these specific grapes in the Summer of 2008 for one very important reason. Unlike our good friends in the Finger Lakes, we do not have the luxury of having deep lakes and the prevailing southeast wind of Lake Ontario to create an insulating microclimate. Cazenovia sits approximately 1,450 feet above sea level and the lake is very shallow (only 65 feet) in comparison to other nearby lakes. In other words, we planted grapes that are rated down to -40F below to insulate ourselves from the cold evenings and frost.
Cazenovia Beverage Trail
From the eastern shores of Cazenovia Lake to the rolling hills of the Cazenovia country side, be prepared for a unique experience in one of the most beautiful and most bountiful regions of New York State. Home to crafters of wine, hard cider and beer, the Cazenovia Beverage Trail invites you to sip and savor some of the finest libations Cazenovia has to offer, all within a ten-mile radius.
We celebrated our “First Crush” in 2010 when we produced just over 1,000 cases of wine. In 2013, our portfolio has expanded to 12 wines that have very different characteristics.
We have you in mind when making our wines and hope you will enjoy them with those closest to you. Whether you’re a “bold and meaty” Cabernet Franc fan or a “fruity and whimsical”
Cazenovia Blush fan or even something in between, we feel confident that you will find something you’ll love at Owera.

Owera Gives Back
In addition to growing grapes and apples on our farm in Cazenovia, we have a beautiful and rather large organic garden on our 57 acre farm in Cazenovia. We grow garlic, asparagus, tomatoes, sugar snap peas, corn, peppers, herbs and sunflowers....but we get a little carried away! Each harvest season, we have plenty of produce, so what isn't consumed by family, friends, and employees, we donate to a couple of different food pantries in the area. A couple of years ago, we donated bushel baskets of tomatoes to the Downtown Food Pantry and one of the volunteers told me that a gentleman came in and said "I haven't had a fresh tomato in 10 years!"
